Epson TM-C7500 & TM-C7500G Label Printers — Differences and Similarities

The Epson ColorWorks C7500 (TM-C7500) and its sibling the Epson ColorWorks C7500G (TM-C7500G) color label printer share the same print technology, but are designed for two distinct purposes.

The original Epson TM-C7500 label printer (also referred to as the TM-C7500 Matte label printer) took advantage of Epson's pigment-based inks to print highly durable labels including industrial labels, wristbands, and tags as well as GHS BS5609 chemical labels for the harshest marine and outdoor environments. In order to ensure the best long-term bond between the label and pigment ink, most labels used with the Epson TM-C7500 color label printer have a matte topcoat, since pigments inks do not bond well with glossy synthetic labels.

The Epson TM-C7500 Matte is designed for use with paper-based matte and high gloss label substrates as well as matte polypropylene and matte chemical labels for GHS BS5609 products. Use the Epson TM-C7500 Matte to print: GHS labels, BS5609 labels, chemical labels, wristbands, and pharmaceutical labels.

However, because of its speed, durability, and print quality, many Epson TM-C7500 users wanted a means of printing high gloss finished synthetic (polypropylene) labels for their retail products. Epson responded by introducing the Epson TM-C7500G label printer. The TM-C7500G Gloss version uses modified inks designed for a better bond with high gloss label surfaces. Thus, the TM-C7500G Gloss version is able to print on glossy label materials such as high gloss polypropylene, glossy clear polypropylene and glossy polyester film labels, and other glossy label materials that are incompatible with the Epson TM-C7500 Matte label printer. The only difference between the two printer versions is the ink cartridges.

As such, the Epson TM-C7500G Gloss label printer can be used to print a variety of product labels such as cosmetic labels, e-cigarette labels, coffee andtea labels, and food labels
