SATO America Announces End of Life Plan for the TH2 Printer Series

SATO America Announces End of Life Plan for the TH2 Printer Series

Posted by BK on 3rd Aug 2020

The SATO TH2 printer series is reaching its end of life with limited quantities of SATO TH2 remaining available. According to SATO America, the last day to order a TH2 label printer will be November 9, 2020. However, with limited quantities available, orders will be on a first come, first served basis. Spare parts and service for SATO TH2 printers will be available until the parts run out.

In addition to discontinuing the TH2 printer series, SATO is discontinuing related products and accessories including the cutter, linerless kits, hanging wall kits, key cover, battery, and battery charger.

SATO TH2 label printers are portable, self-contained label printers commonly used in restaurants, retail, manufacturing, healthcare, and logistics environments as well as by law enforcement and other mobile professionals. Battery power and a portable keypad made it possible to create and print labels virtually anywhere, without a computer.

Why is the SATO TH2 Being Discontinued?

The need for portable label printers remains stronger than ever, especially with outdoor dining and curbside pickup becoming the new normal for restaurants and retailers. So, why did SATO decide to retire the TH2? Because there’s an even better solution. SATO has launched the SATO FX3-LX as a replacement for the aging SATO TH2 label printer series.

The new SATO FX3-LX is a cloud-connected direct thermal label printer with a 7-inch, full color touchscreen that supports video playback for guiding users with helpful instructions as needed. The SATO FX3-LX prints larger labels (3.15” vs 2.2” on the TH2) at a higher dpi (305 vs 203) and at a faster maximum print speed (6 ips vs 4 ips) than the SATO TH2. It also has substantially more memory (1 GB RAM and 4 GB Flash vs 8 MB RAM and 12 MB Flash) than the TH2.

Like the TH2, the FX3-LX is portable, battery operated, and wall mountable. It is a fully self-contained label printer that can be used for a wide range of applications including: food services, retail and markdowns, asset management, ingredient labeling, item identification, warehouse and logistics, price marking, evidence tracking, and more.

What to Do if You’re in the Market for a SATO TH2 Label Printer

If you’re in the market for a portable direct thermal label printer such as the SATO TH2, you have two choices:

-Order a SATO TH2 direct thermal label printer — If you’re set on the TH2, which remains an excellent direct thermal label printer that will continue to be supported by SATO America as long as parts remain available, now is a good time to buy one. But do it quickly as supplies are limited and orders are available on a first come, first served basis. DuraFast Label Company is taking orders for the SATO TH2 until supplies run out. We will continue to offer TH2 labels indefinitely.

-Order a SATO FX3-LX direct thermal label printer — If you’d prefer the full color touchscreen and other upgrades that come with the SATO FX3-LX, order the SATO FX3-LX from DuraFast Label Company. We have everything you need to print labels on this printer including SATO FX3-LX accessories and blank FX3-LX labels.
