Two new label makers have joined the Epson LabelWorks family, bringing bulk 2-inch PX label printing to the market. The Epson LabelWorks LW-5000PX and Epson LW-5010PX label printers are compact yet built for volume. These affordable bulk label makers are affordable to own and operate.

With their cube-like appearance, the Epson LW-5000PX and LW-5010PX label makers make efficient use of space and have a small footprint. The main difference between the two models involves the QWERTY keyboard and touchscreen display — the Epson LW-5010PX includes both while the Epson LW-Z5000PX label printer lacks them.

Thus, you can use the Epson LW-Z5010PX label printer as a standalone unit without a computer. You will need a computer, laptop, tablet, or smartphone to design and print labels with the Epson LW-Z5000PX label printer. USB, LAN, and Wi-Fi connections make doing so easy from both models.

Like the other LabelWorks printers, these two Epson LabelWorks label printers offer outstanding portability. You can use them with the included AC adapter or with the included Lithium-Ion battery. Both printers come free Label Editor software and a mobile app as well as built-in fonts, barcodes, QR codes, and symbols. They also have full-cut and half-cut functions. Both can connect to an external spreadsheet for variable data.

The biggest innovation the new LabelWorks label printers offer is the ability to use bulk PX tape rolls. You can still use regular PX tapes with them for fast and easy loading and unloading, but you can also add a 145-foot PX tape roll to the back of the unit and print directly from it. This is great for bulk applications as you won’t have to change the tape as often, and it reduces your PX tape costs substantially.

LabelWorks Kits

The Epson LW-Z5000PX and the Epson LW-5010PX label printers are available in kits with an automatic rewinder, too. The rewinder sits at the front of the printer where it winds the printed labels onto a reel as they are printed. For example, if you needed to print 1,000 labels for an event or project, you could print and fully cut them (resulting in 1,000 loose labels to manage) or you could half-cut and rewind them (resulting in a neat roll with labels that you can peel off as needed).

In addition to the standard printer kit with rewinder, a “Pro Plus” kit is available for the Epson LW-Z5010PX label printer only. The Pro Plus kit includes the printer, accessories, a tape cassette, an extra Lithium-Ion battery, an extra AC adapter, and rewinder just like the standard kit. However, it also includes an Epson LW-PX700 label printer, carrying case for the LW-PX700, magnetic mounts for the LW-PX700, and a B224VTBWPX bulk PX tape roll.
